About George Hardie & Son
Founded in 1882 over 125 years ago by George Hardie, the firm has been passed down through each generation to the present Hardie brothers John, David & Graeme who all work in the firm today.
Over the years George Hardie & Son have been involved with many historic buildings within the Edinburgh area including the GPO building at the North Bridge, Register House, many historic churches and houses throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Workshops
Our workshops and yard have until recently always been in the South side of Edinburgh however we have recently moved premises to Loanhead. Our office remains at 9 Colinton Road, Edinburgh where we have been since 1964.
We have a team of around 18 tradesmen / apprentices including joiners, builders, labourers, roofers and plasterers many of whom have been with us since starting as apprentices, some of them nearly 40 years ago.
Building Work
The main core of our business is alteration and upgrading of properties, conversions, maintenance work both private and commercial, insurance work for flood, water and fire damage etc.
We are able to offer an ALL TRADES SERVICE which could include plumbing, heating, electrical work and decoration using registered sub-contractors.
We carry out small private maintenance work up to full alterations / conversions of properties all to a high standard of workmanship and at a reasonable cost.
Accreditation
George Hardie & Son Joiners Ltd are members of the Scottish Building Federation, Fair Trades and the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce. We have full public liability insurance.
